Trade Mission to Ireland

Joe Huggard, Chairman of the Ireland Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and Geoff Thompson, a member of the executive committee, joined a delegation from Luxembourg, to Dublin from June 12th to 14th for the first official trade mission to Ireland.

The trade mission was organised by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Ministry of State and Luxembourg Embassy in Dublin.

The Luxembourg delegation was led by Prime Minister Zavier Bettel and Minister Yuriko Backes. In total, 37 representatives from 32 companies in Luxembourg were also part of the delegation.

The Mission included a visit to the port of Dublin which allowed insights into maritime and logistical relationship between Ireland and Luxembourg.

The delegation also had the opportunity to visit Dogpatch Labs a leading digital innovation hub which harnesses significant start-ups and entrepreneurial projects.

Following the visits, the delegation attended the Ireland - Luxembourg Business Forum held at the Herbert Park Hotel.

The trade mission concluded with a reception hosted by the Luxembourg Ambassador to Ireland, Her Excellency Ms Florence Ensch. This reception was addended by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, a number of TDs and Ministers and by past Irish Ambassadors to Luxembourg.
