Introduction

The British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg allows viewers to watch new films from Britain and Ireland. The six-day spring festival from 19 to 24 March includes 11 feature-length films, many of which are independent cinema. The Oscar-nominated Irish-language Drama, The Quiet Girl, will screen on Wednesday, 24 March, at 16:30 with English subtitles.

Special Guest

The festival's Special Guest, Actor Lorcan Crantich, will attend three film screenings and the audience will be able to ask him questions at the end of these three films:
• Róise & Frank, a comedy-drama in Irish with English subtitles, on 20 March
• Tarrac, a female rowing team drama in Irish with English subtitles, on 21 March
• Lakelands is a drama about an injured footballer trying to find an identity outside of sport. The film is in English and screens on 21 March.

Young Filmmakers Competition

A Young Filmmakers Competition is open to students in 2nd and 3rd-level education. The winning entries will be screened at the Autumn Film Festival in September. (Contact Festival Director, Geoff Thompson for more details)

Solidarity with Refugees

A short documentary, Solidarity 365, which focuses on solidarity in Luxembourg towards the people of Ukraine, will be screened on the opening night. It includes interviews with many people in positions of authority on what solidarity means to them.

Awards & Audience Prize

A Critics' Award will be given in partnership with Association Luxembourgeoise de la Presse Cinématographique (ALPC) members. There is also an Audience Award and an Audience Prize, with two people winning a Magnum of Crémant from Bernard-Massard or a Hamper from Home from Home.

Tickets

Tickets cost €10. Cinema-goers can see any five films for €35 by purchasing a Season Special Ticket online. Other ticket bundles include two films for €15 and three for €20. Full ticket details are available at www.luxembourg-ticket.lu. All films will be screened at Ciné Utopia.
